The Iconic Legacy

The Radiomir takes us back to the very beginning of the Panerai story.

Its cushion-shaped case, wire lugs and highly legible dial originate from the watches developed for Italian naval commandos before Panerai became the luxury watchmaker we know today. The design is wonderfully simple, and that simplicity is precisely why it has endured.

The PAM00376 takes those early Panerai ingredients and executes them in an entirely unexpected material: 18ct white gold.

Released as a Special Edition in 2011 and limited to just 501 examples, it pairs a substantial 47mm polished white-gold Radiomir case with a brown California dial and Panerai’s hand-wound P.3000 manufacture movement.

It is historically inspired Panerai, but made in a way very few Radiomirs ever were.

There is something wonderfully contradictory about this watch.

The Radiomir was born as a functional military instrument, yet here that deliberately simple form has been crafted from white gold. Unless you know what you’re looking at, there is very little outward indication of just how special it is.

Then there is the California dial, with Roman numerals across the upper half and Arabic numerals below. It gives the watch an unmistakably early Panerai character and works beautifully against the warmth of the brown dial.

This example remains unworn. There are some light showroom and storage marks acquired during the fifteen years since it was made, which we’ve deliberately described rather than presenting it as untouched. Crucially, it hasn’t had a life on the wrist.

For a Special Edition white-gold Panerai produced in only 501 examples, that makes this a fascinating survivor.

Iconic Status

The PAM00376 comes from an interesting chapter in modern Panerai collecting, when the brand was digging deeply into its archives while simultaneously experimenting with precious metals, manufacture movements and tightly limited Special Editions.

The result here is a watch that rewards knowledge. From across the room it could simply be a beautiful vintage-inspired Radiomir. Pick it up and the weight of the white-gold case immediately tells a different story.

Add the California dial, P.3000 movement and 501-piece production run, and you have a reference that sits well outside the Panerai models most commonly encountered on the secondary market.

It is the sort of Panerai we enjoy finding: not merely rare by number, but genuinely interesting because of what Panerai chose to make.
